AB Bank Limited disbursed Tk 58 lakh as agricultural loan among marginal farmers in Barishal through smart card and agriculture card.
The bank disbursed the loans among 103 farmers on Sunday at Rob Serniabat Stadium.
Barisal City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah was the chief guest at the loan disbursement ceremony.
According to sources, Tk 50,000 in loan each was disbursed among 90 farmers through agriculture card and Tk 1 lakh each was disbursed to 13 farmers using smart card, totalling Tk 58 lakh.
Tariq Afzal, president and managing director of AB Bank Limited, presided over the loan disbursement ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the bank will also disburse agricultural loan in the Northern region of the country.
He urged farmers to use the loans properly and to repay the money on time.
Among others, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Barisal office Swapan Kumar Das and Additional Director of Bangladesh Agriculture Extension Directorate Shaukat Osman were also present on the occasion.
AB Bank Limited earlier made a similar disbursement of agricultural loan among marginal farmers at Tungipara, the birth place of The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, last week.
The bank disbursed loans to 107 farmers through smart cards, kicking off the journey of AB smart account, according to a press statement.
