LGED officials protest attack on project director Md Golam

Officials and staff of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) demonstrated across the country as their fellow project director Md Golam Yazdani was attacked by some miscreants at his office in Chattogram on Sunday.

A gang of 15 miscreants led by local contractor Sahabuddin launched the attack and vandalized Golam Yazdani’s office as they failed to get a tender for the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) project due to transparency, said a press release.

All the LGED officials formed human chains in front of their offices from 3 pm to 4 pm on Monday protesting the attack and met all additional chief engineers and LGED Minister Md Tazul Islam over the matter.

LGED Chief Engineer Sheikh Mohammad Mohsin, additional chief engineers, executive engineers and project directors also participated in the demonstration and demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the miscreants.

Recently, the government invited Tk 220 crore tender for a road development project of CCC. The accused contractors were excluded from the tender process due to maintaining the government regulations and transparency strictly.
