Toffee becomes first digital platform in BD to onboard STAR channels

In a first in the country, digital entertainment platform Toffee has onboarded eight Disney STAR channels.

Toffee viewers can now watch STAR Plus, STAR Gold, STAR Bharat, STAR Jalsha, Jalsha Movies, National Geographic, FOX Life, and Nat Geo Wild from any mobile network, according to a press statement.

Abdul Muqit Ahmed, digital services director of Toffee, said, “As part of our commitment to diversifying Toffee’s content range, we have introduced STAR channels on the platform.”

“The channels will cater to the needs of different age groups by offering a wide array of entertaining programmes,” he said.

“This initiative demonstrates our efforts to become a forerunner in bringing exclusive facilities for viewers,” added Abdul.

Toffee app is available on both Google Play and App Store for download. The STAR Channels can also be watched on Toffee’s website: https://toffeelive.com/ and its Smart Android TV app.

Launched in 2019, the premier video streaming service has gained massive popularity within a short time and became the top entertainment app in the country in Google Play Store.

The platform gained countrywide popularity by livestreaming mega sports events, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, International League T20 (ILT), etc.

Toffee is operated by Banglalink, VEON’s digital operator in Bangladesh, and offers open access to customers of all telecom operators in the country.

During the last FIFA World Cup, according to VEON, Toffee streaming service hit a new milestone with around one billion views and 15.5 million unique viewers for the World Cup Finals.

Toffee currently has more than 120 national and international Live TV channels and live sports and offers a large collection of video-on-demand and user-generated content.

Its app offers a buffer-less viewing experience with easy and simple navigation. It can be enjoyed on Android smartphones, Android TVs, iOS devices, and the Web. Toffee launched the country’s first UGC platform Toffee Creators’ Platform in October 2021 and launched its monetisation feature on August 2022 where local content creators can monetise their own content from the very first video and get easily paid through mobile financial services.

Digital streaming platforms are gaining swift popularity across the country in line with global trend. Although streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon has a huge audience in the country, many local platforms are also attracting users with wide range of contents.

Some of the popular platforms in the country includes, Bongo, Bioscope Live, Binge, BanglaFlix, TeleFlix, Cinespot, etc.
