Engineer SM Shahidul Islam has been appointed as the Additional Director General (East zone) of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), effective from Monday.
Before joining the present post, Shahidul Islam was chief engineer of BWDB (North-East zone) in Sylhet, said a press release.
He obtained BSc in Civil Engineering degree from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology in 1987 and joined the Quality Control Department of BWDB as an assistant engineer in 1989.
During his career, he worked on the Teesta Barrage project, the Capital (Pilot) dredging project and various design, planning, irrigation, important river bank conservation projects, flood control and rural development projects with success and efficiency.
During his 33 years of service, he participated in many seminars and training in Germany, Singapore and the Philippines. He was born in 1965 in the Dinajpur district.
