SIBL distributes loans among indigenous farmers in Tangail

As per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SIBL) has initiated the distribution of Tk 350 lakh agricultural loans among the farmers of the ethnic community in FY 2022-23.

In the first phase, Tk 71 lakh agricultural loan at only a 4 per cent interest rate was dispersed among the indigenous farmers in Tangail, said a press statement.

SIBL Managing Director and CEO Mosleh Uddin Ahmed distributed the cheques for agricultural investment among 16 farmers in a programme as the chief guest on February 4. The rest of the money will be distributed successively among farmers.

SIBL Deputy Managing Director Md Shahjahan Siaj presided over the programme where Md Abdur Rahim, chief of SME and Agricultural Investment Department of SIBL delivered the welcome speech. SIBL Tangail branch Head Abdul Khalek was the special guest at the event.

Following the Bangladesh Bank (BB) regulations, SIBL disbursed a total of Tk 200 lakh loan among the farmers of the ethnic community in the FY 2019-20 and 2020-21.
