Hamdard University Bangladesh organised a seminar celebrating World Unani Day at the headquarter of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh in the Banglamotor area of Dhaka on Saturday.
State Minister for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Md Faridul Haque Khan was the chief guest at the event while Chittagong Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Ismail Khan was present as the special guest, said a press release.
“As an alternative medicine, Unani and herbs should get more importance. Research on herbs should be increased as their global demand also grows with time. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking care so that general people can get easy access to these medicines”, Faridul Haque Khan said.
National Prof Dr AK Azad Khan of Hamdard University presided over the seminar where Chief motawalli and managing director of Hamdard Bangladesh, also the founder of Hamdard University Bangladesh, Md Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan was present as the key speaker.
Indian High Commission representative Jayanta Bakshi and Dhaka University’s Hindi Department chief Dr Punam Gupta were also present at the programme.

Hamdard has established medical centres all over the country. At medical centres, no fees are charged to anyone for consultation, examination, tests and services. The patient only pays for medicine. Indigent patients are given all treatment and medicine free.
