bKash provides books to libraries for underprivileged kids

Following the trend of the past three years, bKash is also providing books to the libraries for underprivileged children after collecting them from visitors, writers and publishers at the Ekushey Book Fair this year.

The books will be distributed to libraries across the country through Prothom Alo Trust, said a press release.

As a part of the initiative, books were handed over to the underprivileged children of Gurihari-Kamdebpur Alor Pathshala at Niamatpur upazila in Naogaon, Rajshahi Alor Pathshala of Rajshahi and Babu dyeing Alor Pathshala at Godagari upazila run by Prothom Alo Trust on February 10.

Editor of Kishore Alo and eminent writer Anisul Haque and bKash’s Head of Corporate Communications Shamsuddin Haider Dalim were present on the occasion.

In his speech, Anisul Haque said, “bKash’s initiative to donate books among the underprivileged students will contribute to developing children’s intelligence and process of thinking.”

Besides, Shamsuddin Haider Dalim said, “bKash has been taking the book distribution initiative for the past few years to build a relationship between underprivileged children and books.”

So far, bKash has distributed 72,500 books through this initiative in the last three years on the occasion of book fairs. To make this year’s book distribution programme successful, bKash has set up booths in the fair premises where interested visitors give all kinds of new or old books. Those who are living outside Dhaka can visit any bKash customer service centre in their respective area to donate books.

bKash is the sponsor of the Ekushey Book Fair and book lovers are getting 10 per cent instant cashback on bKash payments like every year. During the fair, a customer can enjoy a maximum cashback of up to Tk 100. Also, upon payment of Tk 500 or more, there will be an additional Tk 50 coupon. Apart from this, there is an opportunity to open a bKash account on the fair premises, refreshment facilities for readers, writers, buyers and visitors arranged by bKash and also a fun puppet show for children and teenagers.
