Meghna Group launches four new bulk carriers in Ctg

Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) on Sunday launched the first ever four brand new Ultramax Dry Bulk carriers of the country at a programme in Chattogram Port on Sunday.

The four new Ultramax Dry Bulk carriers are MV Meghna Victory, MV Meghna Prestige, MV Meghna Hope and MV Meghna Progress, said a press statement.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury was present at the launching ceremony as the chief guest while Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, chairman of Chittagong Port Authority was the special guest.

HSBC Bangladesh arranged $71 million for these 4 ships against Sinosure (Chinese ECA) guarantee. MGI’s four brand new Ultramax Dry Bulk Carriers were built by a joint venture company of Japan and China named Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Co Ltd.

The capacity of each of these ocean-going vessels is 66,000 DWT. According to MGI, these four brand new Ultramax Dry Bulk carriers will contribute to the economy of the country by importing and exporting different items from the major seaports around the world by hoisting our national flag.
