Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU) celebrated its fourth founding anniversary with great enthusiasm and festivity on Wednesday.
On the occasion, students, teachers and staff pledged to work for establishing BSMRAAU as the centre of excellence for aviation and aerospace studies, said a press release.
Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force was present as the chief guest and inaugurated the programme.
He thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her visionary thinking and for founding this specialised university and urged all to work hard for turning the university into an aviation research hub.
He also thanked the respected members of the Parliament of this region including the distinguished persons of Lalmonirhat district, who have provided constant direct or indirect support for the management and development of this university.
University vice-chancellor Md Giashuddin Miah said the university is committed to providing quality education of international standard to enable skilled and professional aviation and aerospace manpower as per the desire of the Prime Minister. He thanked the chief guest for his relentless support in the development of the university.
Later, a cultural programme was held and a colourful journal titled “The Quest for Excellence” along with a brochure was also unveiled. Marking the event, the university campus was decorated with colourful banners, festoons and different flags.
BSMRAAU started its journey in 2019 on a small scale at the old airport of Dhaka. After the establishment of the permanent campus, Air Force has come forward and constructed an academic building and residential facility to facilitate the university to commence academic sessions from Lalmonirhat.
