Founder and MD of JMI Group Md Abdur Razzaq received the ‘Nawab Faizunnesa Choudhurani and Language Veteran Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Medal’ in recognition of his outstanding contribution to social services.
Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi handed over the award to Md Abdur Razzak, in a recent ceremony marking the 42nd anniversary of Ushoshi Parishad, Dhaka, a socio-cultural organisation, said a press release.
JMI Group, one of the leading companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing sector, has been working for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh for almost two decades.
After receiving the award, the Founder and JMI Group Managing Director Md Abdur Razzaq said, “We are steadily expanding our business for the welfare of the country and people. None of our factories was closed even for a day during Covid-19. Risking lives, JMI Group employees have prepared medicines and other protective materials for the people of the country. It will continue in the coming days. I am grateful to the organizers for honouring me here today.”
Besides, Bangladesh Diabetic Association President and National Professor Dr AK Azad Khan and seven others also received the award.
JMI group started its journey in 1999 with only 50 employees producing three types of products and now the total number of employees has exceeded 8,500. JMI Group currently has a total of 42 industrial establishments in various sectors including pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturing, marketing, healthcare, housing, printing, industrial gas, LPG, LPG cylinder and auto tank manufacturing.
