North South University (NSU) observed International Women’s Day with a pledge to use technology for gender equality.
Marking the day, NSU held a panel discussion and cultural programme with the theme ‘DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’ at the auditorium where eminent writer and president of Bangla Academy Selina Hossain was the chief guest, said a press release.
In her speech, Selina Hossain highlighted how digital Bangladesh has been transforming the lives of women and urged everyone to ensure equity and equality of women to establish a strong Bangladesh.
NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam urged all to show respect and encourage women to realize their dreams.
Citing the findings of a study, Dr Nova Ahmed, professor of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, revealed that the majority of participants (57.53 per cent) had a significant impact during the pandemic.
Compared to the use of MFS, the study found that a relatively lower number of female participants had access to the internet.
