Kidney Awareness, Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), one of the leading non-government voluntary organisations, organised a rally and discussion on Thursday celebrating World Kidney Day 2023.
Dr MA Samad, founder and president of KAMPS and head of the Department of Kidney of Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, led the rally and presented the keynote speech at the discussion, said a press release.
In his speech, Prof Samad said that every effort should be made to ensure the right to kidney treatment across the country including the remote areas.
He focused on widespread awareness among people to prevent kidney diseases referring that the treatment of kidney issues is critical and the cost is also high which is unaffordable for many underprivileged people.
The cause of the increase in kidney disease should be investigated and necessary steps should be taken after analyzing why it is not being possible to reduce medical expenses, he suggested.
Prof Dr Harisul Hoque, general secretary of KAMPS said, “Kidney diseases have severe effects on the human body which can be prevented by social awareness. We organised this program to raise awareness among the mass people of Bangladesh.”
