A 500-bed Ad-din Sakina Medical College Hospital was inaugurated on Saturday aiming to ensure standard medical facilities in Jashore.
Marking the inauguration, services will be provided free of cost at different departments of the hospital till April 20, said a press release.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony chaired by Ad-din Welfare Centre Chairman Professor Dr Muhammad Abdus Sabur.
Ad-din Foundation Executive Director Dr Sheikh Mohiuddin was also present on the occasion. On the occasion, Professor Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed said Ad-Din Foundation is playing an important role to serve the people.
Ad-Din is working as a role model by creating job opportunities for women and reaching health services at people’s doorsteps, he said.
The BSMMU VC said Ad-Din is also working to create expert physicians side by side with providing health services at low cost.
Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Chairman Anwar Hossain Khan, Bangladesh Privet Medical College Association President Mubin Khan, Jashore Municipality Mayor Haider Gani Khan Palash, Bangladesh Medical Association, Jashore unit’s President Dr AK Kamrul Islam Benu, Jashore Press Club President Zahid Hasan Tukon, Ad-Din Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Professor Jamalunnesa, Ad-Din Foundation Adviser Prof Dr Afifur Rahman, Ad-Din Hospital Director General Professor Dr Nahid Yasmin and eminent gynaecologist Professor Dr Gulshanara Begum addressed the function, among others. Amirul Momenin Manik moderated the function.
Ad-din Foundation was established in 1980 to support the underprivileged majority of Bangladesh. Its first project was building an orphanage in Jashore. During its thirty-seven years of development, Ad-din has expanded its existence of diverse projects in several parts of the country.
Ad-din’s current projects include hospitals in Dhaka, Keranigonj, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna and Postogola; Medical Colleges in Dhaka, Jashore, Keranigonj and Khulna; Nursing College in Dhaka, Nursing Institutes in Dhaka, Jashore and Kushtia and a Medical Technology Institute in Jashore. There are also Mobile Eye clinics, the Maternal and Child Health Project, the Prevention and repair of obstetric Fistulae a plus Project, Integrated Health and Microfinance Programme including Health Insurance.
Ad-din hospitals were established to provide affordable quality care. Ad-din’s chain hospitals are now recognised as centres of excellence acclaimed for their quality, affordability and patient friendliness.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare accorded approval to Ad-din Women’s Medical College (AWMC), Dhaka in 2008, Ad-dinSakina Medical College (ASMC), Jashore in 2012, Bashundhara Ad-din Medical College (BAMC), Keranigonj, Dhaka in 2013 and Ad-dinAkij Medical College (AAMC), Khulna in 2013.
Ad-din aimed to secure excellent teaching facilities and a dedicated team of faculty members some of whom are authorities in their disciplines. Given the resources at its disposal, Ad-din continues to develop outstanding medical graduates who are both excellent in their clinical practice and equally conscious about their social obligations.
