Professor Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain has been re-appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University by the university Chancellor and President Abdul Hamid.
Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain was the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University from November 1, 2018, to October 31, 2022, said a press release.
Professor of Soil, Water and Environment, Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain was Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University before joining Eastern University.
He received his PhD degree in ‘Sustainable Development’ from the University of Queensland in Australia in 1993 and a Commonwealth post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Aberdeen, UK.
Previously, Professor Hossain performed various important duties including dean, provost, senate and syndicate member, vice president and general secretary of the Teachers Association of Dhaka University.
