S Alam Group optimistic about steady supply in Ramadan

S Alam Group, one of the top importers of the country, is importing 1.20 lakh metric tons of crude palm oil during February, March, and April to meet the demands during the upcoming Ramadan.

The company is also importing 15,086 metric tons of crude soybean oil in February and March, 3.62 lakh metric tons of wheat on the occasion of Ramadan. Apart from this, two ships carrying 1.15 lakh metric tons of wheat will enter the country by March 20, according to a press statement.

S Alam Group is importing about 3.30 lakh metric tons of sugar and 45,000 metric tons of chickpeas to keep the market stable during Ramadan.

It will contribute to keeping the oil supply and market price affordable as demand for food products usually rise during Ramadan.

The company is importing most of the products required during Ramadan despite the challenges of the dollar crisis, LC complications, Ukraine-Russia war, said Md Akhtar Hasan and Md Rafiq, senior representatives of S Alam Group’s department of international procurement-sugar, wheat, chickpeas, and international procurement-edible oil.

S Alam Group will always stand by the people of this country to alleviate their sufferings, they said, adding that, the government has been initiating various strategies for the last several months to keep the price of consumer goods bearable during the month of Ramadan.

Transport vessels, the Dollar crisis and complicacy around LC opening to import products have been resolved as well, they added.
