Math Olympiad 2023 was held at ULAB

To celebrate the International Day of Mathematics, the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) organised a Math Olympiad at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) campus on March 16.

More than 100 students enthusiastically participated in the Math contest where Ahsun Ahmed Sun became the champion, said a press release.

Md Eakramul Karim Tarik and Tamanna Akter were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Three toppers were awarded crests and all the participants were awarded certificates.

Professor Dr M Mofazzal Hossain, dean of the SSE, Professor Dr Muhammad Golam Kibria, head (Acting) of the CSE department, Professor Dr Riaz Khan and faculty members were present at the award-giving ceremony. Prior to the Math contest, a workshop on “The Role of Mathematics in Critical Thinking” was held to motivate the students of CSE and EEE.

The workshop was conducted by the Bangladesh team, who achieved 10th position among 100 teams around the world in the International Math Competition (IMC), 2022. Coach Dr Md Shariful Islam, assistant professor of the Department of Mathematics at Dhaka University led the team. It is worth mentioning that the SSE always prioritizes student participation in Math Olympiad to establish the culture in all the departments.
