Massive awareness about Dementia and Alzheimer’s should be raised among people to curb the spreading of the disease and ensure proper treatment in rural areas, said experts in a programme on Tuesday.
The experts came up with the remarks at an event organised by the Neurology Department of Chattagram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital Medical College (CMOSHMC) in association with Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited with a slogan of ‘No dementia, no Alzheimer’, said a press release.
People should know about Dementia and Alzheimer’s as the knowledge will potentially contribute to ensuring proper treatment and cure for the disease, they explained.
When someone suffers from memory loss; they fail to get required service and assistance from the near ones due to lack of knowledge; so this ailment should get necessary significance and awareness, the experts stated.
This will also enhance the rate of recovery in rural areas, they said, adding that, at the same time steps should be taken to make the medicine easily reachable for the patients.
CMOSHMC Principal ASM Mostaque Ahmed presided over the event where the Head of the Neurology Department of the National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital, Prof Dr Maliha Hakim was present as the key speaker.
Dr Taher Khan, president of CMOSHMC Executive Committee was present at the programme as the chief guest while Chattogram Medical College and Hospital Principal and Neurology Department Head Dr Md Hasanuzzaman was the special guest.
Marin City Medical College and Hospital Principal Dr Sujat Pal, Prof Dr Mahmud A Chowdhury of CMOSHMC and Chattogram Press Club Senior vice-president Chowdhury Farid were also present at the event, among others.
