Belal Ahmed has been elected as the chairman of Social Islami Bank Limited in its 494th board meeting on Monday.
Previously he served as the vice chairman of the bank, said a press release.
Belal Ahmed, born in Anwara of Chattogram, started his business with the renowned Unitex Group after completing his higher education at the University of Toronto in Canada. He is the Managing Director of Unitex Spinning Limited, Unitex Composite Mills Limited, Unitex LP Gas Ltd., Unitex Petroleum Ltd., Unitex Cement Ltd., and Unitex Steel Mills Ltd.
Belal Ahmed was one of the Directors of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries from 2013 to 2015. He was also Vice Chairman of Union Bank and Global Islami Bank and has been representing Social Islami Bank Limited to the Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB) for a long time.
As a young and visionary industrialist, he has been significantly contributing to the sector of textile, spinning, LP gas, jute and food items of the country.
