Daffodil International University (DIU) on Saturday held a discussion programme to celebrate the 53rd Independence Day and National Day on campus.
The programme was held at Professor Aminul Islam Seminar Hall of the university in Savar where Freedom Fighter Principal Asadul Haque, also president of Bangladesh College Teachers Association (BAKSHISH) was present as the chief guest, reads a press release.
In his speech, Asadul Haque said that the spirit and ideals of the Liberation War and Bangabandhu cannot be compromised at any cost. He urged the young generation to always recognise the wise leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujbur Rahman and the long struggle and sacrifice of the freedom-seeking people of the country.
DIU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman presided over the event where Academic Affairs Dean Prof. Dr Mostafa Kamal; Humanities Faculty Dean Professor A M M Hamidur Rahman; Science and Technology Faculty Dean Professor Dr Md Fokhray Hossain; Director of Student Affairs Syed Mizanur Rahman Razu; Senior Assistant Director ( Public Relations) Md Anowar Habib Kazal were present, among others.
Besides, a group of teachers, students and officials of DIU led by Syed Mizanur Rahman, director of Student Affairs of the university, placed floral wreaths at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar paying homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War on Sunday. Ishaq Mizi, deputy registrar and Md Anwar Habib Kazal, senior assistant director (Public Relations) were also present there. Different clubs of the university also organised painting and photography competitions and film exhibitions marking the day.
