Real Estate and Housing Association Of Bangladesh (REHAB) on Wednesday expressed deep shock at the death of Liberation war veteran and former lawmaker Nur-E-Alam Siddiqui.
REHAB members prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy for the bereaved family, reads a press release.
Nur-E-Alam Siddiqui who served as convener of Swadhin Bangla Kendriya Chhatra Sangram Parishad during the mass upsurge of 1969 and the War of Liberation in 1971, was also the chairman of Dorin Development Limited, a member organisation of REHAB.
Nur-E-Alam Siddiqui, former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League and also a former lawmaker from Jhenaidah-2 constituency, died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
Prime Minister Sheik Hasina and other cabinet members, in separate statements, expressed their deep shock at his death.
He became member of the Bangladesh Constitution formation committee and served as the Chairman of various Parliamentary Standing Committees’ from 1973 to 1975.
Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui participated in the 1996 seventh and 2001 eighth parliamentary elections as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate from Jhenidah-2 constituency.
