The president of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI), Hikari Kawai, bid farewell recently as he concluded his official assignment in Bangladesh.
Kawai who also served as the General Manager and Country Head of Marubeni Corporation will return to Japan for his next assignment, according to a press statement. He was elected as JBCCI president on October 10, 2022, for two years.
Marking his leave, JBCCI organised a farewell programme on Monday night where board members, former presidents, former secretary general, and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) officials were present.
At the event, Executive Director Md Emran who moderated the programme shared the major activities undertaken under the leadership of Hikari Kawai during his six-month tenure.
He requested the participants to share their views and memories with Kawai while distinguished participants praised Kawai’s leadership and appreciated his contribution to the JBCCI in a short time. JBCCI took several initiatives under his guidance, which were remarkable; they said and wished him good luck for his next assignment in Japan.
Hikari also shared his memories with JBCCI at the event while he emphasised JBCCI’s importance in boosting Japan-Bangladesh business relations.
“I tried my best to contribute to the JBCCI and make it more vibrant. I wish the activity of JBCCI will expand more vigorously in the upcoming days”, he said.
With the valuable expertise of the honourable members from different business fields from both countries, JBCCI is committed to serving the business community of Japan and Bangladesh at every step of promoting trade and investment for economic development.
The organisation collect and provides business information in Bangladesh and Japan, promotes the two – way trade and investment between Japan and Bangladesh and explores new areas of investment and encourages the establishment of Japan-Bangladesh joint ventures.
