Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Espen Rikter-Svendsen recently discussed the various ways of achieving sustainable peace, including negotiating between political parties in a programme and said that peace is a valuable dividend.
The Center for Peace Studies (CPS) of the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) of North South University (NSU) and the Office of External Affairs (OEA) of NSU on Sunday jointly organised the seminar. The seminar was held on ‘Ambassador Talk Series: Session 2’ with the ‘Peace’ topic aiming to discuss sustainable peace and how it can be achieved, said a press release.
As the keynote speaker at the event, Espen Rikter-Svendsen also discussed different ways of achieving sustainable peace, including developing networks such as engagements, available financial and human resources with international organisations, and the participation of women in the peace process.
NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam chaired the session where Professor Islam underscored the need for a holistic approach to building context-specific peace worldwide.
Dr Katherine Li, director of OEA and Adviser of CPS, NSU moderated the session, while Dr Abdul Wohab, Coordinator of CPS and Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science and Sociology, NSU delivered the welcome speech. Professor Dr Sk Tawfique M Haque, Director CPS and SIPG and the Chair of the Department of PSS, NSU, offered a vote of thanks.
