Nine International Universities have recently collaborated to form International Collaboration for Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture (ICFSA) organisation.
The universities are Universiti Putra Malaysia; IPB University of Indonesia; University Malaya; University of Western Australia; Universiti Sumatera Utara (USU) Indonesia; Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Bangladesh; Fatoni University, Thailand; University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka; University of Aden of Yemen, according to a press release.
The research organisation ICFSA was made through a virtual meeting on Friday while a protem committee was formed to lead this collaboration.
The members of the committee are Chairman – Associate Professor Dr Susilawati Kasim (UPM, Malaysia); Deputy Chairman – Dr Dewi Sartiami (IPB, Indonesia); Secretary –Hachib Mohammad Tusar (Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh); Treasurer- Maroning Useng (Fatoni University, Thailand); Advisor- Prof Dr Tungku Sabrina (USU Indonesia); General Members- Professor Dr Shamim Mia, (Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh); Dr Md Kamal Uddin, (UPM, Malaysia); Dr Nur Asrina Sairi (UM, Malaysia); Prof Dr Hamidah Harahap (USU, Indonesia) and Dr Ali Nurmansyah, (IPB, Indonesia).
This international collaboration will focus on research collaboration, books and journal publications, conferences and seminars, student exchange programmes and staff exchange programmes. The committee will be responsible for establishing a strategic plan for the collaboration, coordinating research efforts and ensuring the successful execution of research projects. The protem committee will play a critical role in ensuring the success of this collaboration and will provide strong leadership and guidance for this organisation.
