The Association of Asset Management Companies and Mutual Funds (AAMCF) recently announced the launch of “Bangladesh Impact Fund - South Region”.

The fund will be used to finance food security, healthcare, green initiatives and digitisation of small and micro business activities in Khulna, Gopalganj and other Southern districts.

AAMCF President Hasan Imam made the announcement during an event held at the Khulna Chamber of Commerce in Khulna on Sunday, said a press statement.

Sheikh Salauddin Jewel, MP Khulna-02, presided over the programme where Hasan Imam was a special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Imam said the fund will target Tk 200 crore in development financing and can become larger with success.

He said similar funds will be formed not only in the southern region but also in the northern, western and eastern regions of Bangladesh. Such funds will be formed through discussions with local chambers of commerce and leaders of the regions.

He encouraged local businessmen to participate in the capital markets through investments and building dividend generating businesses.

“Such timely private sector funds with your participation will be a win-win for the nation, its people and the capital markets. We stand ready to do our part,” Imam added.

MP Sheikh Jewel and AAMCF President Hasan Imam exchanged views with the local businessmen and leaders on the occasion. The event was followed by a meet and greet of local businesses.
