Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) celebrated its’ 22nd anniversary on Wednesday marking its successful operation of Islamic Shariah-based banking activities for the past 22 years.
On the occasion, a special Doa mahfil and Quran Khatam was organised at all branches and sub-branches of the bank including the corporate head office, said a press release.
In the Doa Mahfil, special prayers were offered for the greater welfare of the nation while Chairman of the Board of Directors Mohammed Younus and Managing Director and CEO Mosleh Uddin Ahmed were present and delivered speeches wishing the persistent prosperity of the bank.
Later, a cake was cut in the board meeting room of the corporate head office to celebrate the anniversary. Vice-Chairman of the Board Mohiuddin Ahmed, Directors Md Sanaullah Shahid and Khandaker Shakib Ahmed, Additional Managing Directors Abdul Aziz, SM Mainuddin Chowdhury, Mian Quamrul Hasan Chowdhury and M Akhter Hossain, Deputy Managing Directors Md Shahjahan Shiraj, Imtiaz U Ahmed and Md Nazimuddoula along with the divisional heads of various departments and officials participated in the Doa Mahfil, among others. The Doa and munajat were conducted by Mawlana Md Farid Uddin, head of Shariah Inspection and Compliance Division of the Bank.
Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd started its’ banking operations on May 10, 2001, and has so far provided advanced banking services to its customers through 140 branches, sub-branches, priority banking units, offshore banking units, a remarkable number of ATM booths and agent banking outlets in remote areas of the country. As on April 30 of the incumbent year, the total deposit and investment amount was about Tk 47,817.00 crores. The total volume of import and export trade from 1st January to 30 April 2023 was about 17,035.00 crores. At present, the bank has more than 12.30 lakh customers. The Emerging Credit Rating Limited (ECRL) rated Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd for the year 2022, in the rating the ECRL rated the Bank AA+ in the long term and ST-2 in the short term.
