EU delegates visit Child Protection Community Hub in Dhaka

A team of European Union delegates led by Helena König, deputy secretary-general of the EEAS for Economic and Global Affairs, visited a Child Protection Community Hub (CPCH) in Korail of Dhaka recently.

UNICEF, with the collaboration of the EU, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) is implementing the Child Protection Programme titled “Fostering Rights and Empowerment Among Most Marginalised Adolescents and Children with Disabilities in Bangladesh.”

A total of 1,189 Child Protection Community Hubs have been established by the Accelerating Protection for Children (APC) programme from 2021 under the Ministry of Children Affairs (MoWCA) in which more than 66 per cent of the centres’ venues were donated by the communities under the government’s oversight, said a press release.

Along with others, the ambassador of the EU to Bangladesh, Charles Whiteley, the representative of UNICEF Sheldon Yett, OIC Chief of Child Protection, Elisa Calpona, Project Director and Joint Secretary of MoWCA, SM Latif were also present during the visit.
