The Research and Professional Development Centre of BRAC Business School recently organised the closing ceremony for Cohort-3 of ‘Udyami Ami’ (Assiduous Me) training programme where BRAC Business School announced a partnership with BRAC Bank Limited.
Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, pro-vice chancellor and acting vice-chancellor of BRAC University; Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman, director of SME and Special Programmes Department, Bangladesh Bank; Syed Abdul Momen, deputy managing director and head of SME, BRAC Bank Limited; along with Dr David Dowland, registrar of BRAC University; and Mohammad Mujibul Haque, professor and associate dean, acting dean of BRAC Business School, BRAC University graced the event with their presence.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, appreciated the unique association among a national body (Bangladesh Bank), a private entity (BRAC Bank Limited) and a private university (BRAC University) to encourage women entrepreneurship and start-up businesses in Bangladesh through the training programme.
Bangladesh Bank Director of SME and Special Programmes Department, Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman pointed out the fact that Bangladesh Bank is backing women entrepreneurship by increasing funds available to women entrepreneurs from Tk 1,500 crore to Tk 3,000 crore.
BRAC Bank Limited Deputy Managing Director and Head of SME, Syed Abdul Momen reiterated the support for women entrepreneurship by referring to existing products designed for women entrepreneurs and promising more newer products targeting women entrepreneurs. He also pointed out that the proportion of bad debt is lower among women entrepreneurs.
