PRAN-RFL Group Chairman and CEO Ahsan Khan Chowdhury recently joined an industry-academia lecture series as a lecturer at the Daffodil International University (DIU).
On the occasion, he said that despite facing various limitations and adversities, the private sector entrepreneurs have been increasing production in the country and creating new employment opportunities for a large number of people mostly in the private sector, stated a press release.
“But still, they have to face some problems at the age of the 4th Industrial Revolution”, he said, while presenting the keynote of the second phase of the ‘Industry-Academia Linkage Development’ lecture series on “Essential Qualities of an Entrepreneur to meet the Challenges of Fourth Industrial Revolution”.
The event was organised by the Industrial Innovation Center (IIC) of Daffodil International University (DIU) on Thursday at the International Conference Hall of the university at Daffodil Smart City at Birulia of Savar.
Private entrepreneurs are creating new positions for work but they have to face big problems for lack of suitable and skilled manpower to fill the posts, he said, adding, “As a result, some are hiring people from abroad with high salaries and thereby increasing the cost of production of goods and services”
But with the goal of a permanent solution to the issue and the initiative to produce quality graduates is very limited, he said.
A large number of graduates passing out from top-ranked universities in the private sector are becoming a burden rather than a human resource for the state, society and individuals, Ahsan Khan stated.
Praising the initiatives of Daffodil International University in this regard, Khan said “Why other universities are not able to do it, the University Grants Commission (UGC) should take remedial measures after scrutinising it.”
Mominul Haque Mazumder, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University presided over the lecture held at the international conference hall.
Dr Md Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, Prof Dr Md Masum Iqbal, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, Abu Taher Khan, project director of Industrial Innovation Center (IIC) also spoke at the programme.
Daffodil International University introduced the Industry-Academia Lecture series in 2016 and since then, a total of 14 local and foreign eminent entrepreneurs have given their speeches on various topics related to entrepreneurship development under the first phase. A large part of those lectures has been compiled and published.
