The contractual appointments of first secretary Wahiduzzaman Noor and counsellor Arifa Rahman Ruma at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, USA; counsellors Aparna Rani Paul and Mubasshera Farzana Mithila at Ottawa, Canada; and third secretary Asib Uddin Ahmed in New York have been terminated.
Their contractual appointments were terminated in separate notifications issued on Wednesday, and signed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director (Personnel) Sabuj Ahmed. The five envoys have been directed to return to Dhaka by August 31.
Meanwhile, as part of ongoing changes in administration, Bangladesh ambassadors from the United States (US), Russia, Germany, Japan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the Maldives have been asked to return home leaving their current responsibilities with the respective missions abroad.
