Bangladesh has lodged a formal protest with the Government of India over the killing of 13-year-old Bangladeshi girl Shwarna Das by India's Border Security Force (BSF).

Shwarna Das, from JuriUpazila in Moulvibazar District, was shot dead by BSF troops on September 1.

In a protest note sent to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Thursday, Bangladesh strongly condemned such ruthless acts and expressed deep concern over the incident, reports UNB.

The Government of Bangladesh emphasised that such incidents of border killings are undesirable and unwarranted and that these actions violate the provisions of the Joint Indo-Bangladesh Guidelines for Border Authorities, 1975.

The Government of Bangladesh called on the Government of India to prevent the recurrence of such heinous acts, conduct inquiries into all border killings, identify the responsible individuals, and bring them to justice.
