Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Chattogram, and PHP Motors Ltd Managing Director Mohammed Akther Parvez on Sunday emphasised the importance of trade and bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia in medical, tourism services, and motor, bicycle industries.
Parvez, also the director of Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), said, “Bangladesh and Malaysia have many opportunities to work together not only in the automobile industry, but also in medical, tourism, bicycle and many other sectors.”
He made these remarks at a farewell dinner hosted by the PHP Family in honour of the outgoing Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haznah Md Hashim, held at the Aziz Group Convention Center in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
BMCCI President Shabbir A Khan, Mohammed Akther Parvez’s wife Tajneen Mehjaben, and others also spoke at the event.
Parvez said, “We had planned a much larger event, but due to the current situation in the country, it was not possible. We also had plans for a musical event. Hopefully, the situation will normalise within the next few weeks. So we invite you to Bangladesh again.”
At the beginning of the event, Mohammed Akther Parvez and his wife Tajneen Mehjaben presented flowers and a crest to outgoing Malaysian High Commissioner Haznah Md Hashim as a token of appreciation.
Addressing the Malaysian high commissioner, Mohammed Akther Parvez said, “My elder brother, Mohammed Mohsin, vice-chairman of PHP Family, and I were called for an interview. You interviewed me. I was very nervous at that time.
“Alhamdulillah, when my brother and I were returning to Chattogram, we were discussing that there are many diplomats in Bangladesh, but our journey with Haznah Md Hashim will be different.”
He added, “Wherever you go, I will be eager to work under your guidance. I want to mention one more thing, Malaysian automobiles have come to Bangladesh only because of you. I hope that when you return to Putrajaya, you can convince Perodua Automobiles to assemble cars in Bangladesh.”
The outgoing Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haznah Md Hashim, said, “I would like to thank all the people of Bangladesh for their sincere cooperation during my tenure. I would like to thank the PHP Family, Mr Parvez, and the Perodua Family. I also thank the honorary consul of Chattogram for his cooperation.
“I will be around for quite a while, this was the latest instruction from my government because of the current situation. When time comes, I will disappear quietly.”
