The Russian House in Dhaka in cooperation with the Soviet/Russian Alumni Association of Bangladesh (SAAB) organised an event dedicated to International Youth Day.
In his opening speech, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka P Dvoychenkov, said about the activities of the Russian House in Dhaka, opportunities for learning the Russian language through its courses, and read a press release issued Friday.
He highlighted other activities including obtaining higher education in Russia through Russian Federation government scholarships and participating in various youth projects such as the “New Generation” programme—short-term study tour to Russia for young representatives of public, scientific, and business circles, among others.
Dvoychenkov said, “Youth and young adulthood are not only wonderful periods in a person’s life but also a state of mind. This is a time for bold actions, searches, discoveries and the realisation of the most daring hopes!
“It is now unquestionable that youth plays one of the most important roles in a country’s life. Modern youth is characterised by a heightened interest in life, a desire for quality education, independence, self-reliance and the ability to set specific goals and strive to achieve them.”
During the event participants were shown a documentary film about the restoration of the painting by KE Makovsky, “People’s Festivities During Maslenitsa at Admiralty Square in St Petersburg.”
The participants discussed prospects for youth cooperation and several joint initiatives with the Russian House in Dhaka.
The event was attended by young alumni of Russian universities, representatives of youth organisations, the Dhaka University Research Society, as well as students from Dhaka University and other universities in the country. The event took place in a very warm and friendly atmosphere.
