Bangladeshi Taka continues to depreciate against the American greenback, totaling a depreciation of 9.24 per cent this year.
The inter-bank exchange rate stood at Tk93.95 per dollar on Wednesday, up from Tk93.45 on the previous day. This is the 19th depreciation of Taka against the USD in 2022.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Md Serajul Islam confirmed the issue to the Business Post.
The central bank however allowed dollar free float, but unofficially it intervened in the forex market by setting the inter-bank exchange rate. The Bangladesh Bank is selling the USD every day to banks in order to cool down the forex market.
On Wednesday, the central bank sold $97 million to banks at the rate of Tk93.95 per dollar, which is the official inter-bank exchange rate.
