Amanat Shah Fabrics gets LEED certification

Amanat Shah Fabrics Limited (ASFL), a readymade garment factory, has been awarded this year’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the US green building council (USGBC).

Amanat Shah Fabrics Ltd got the gold certification with 68 out of 100 score, according to USGBC.

With this, Bangladesh has 184 LEED-certified readymade garment factories which is a record in the world.

According to USGBC data, currently in Bangladesh, there are 60 platinum categories, 110 gold categories, 10 silver categories and 4 green-certified readymade garments factories.

In May 2012, Bangladesh's Vintage Denim Studio was recognised as the first LEED platinum-certified factory in the world. The top seven green factories in the world are in Bangladesh.

LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building types, LEED provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings.
