Sheikh Kabir Hossain of Fareast International University and Kazi Anis Ahmed of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) have been elected as President and General Secretary of the Board of Executive Committee of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) for the year 2023-2025.
The annual general meeting (AGM) and election of the APUB were held on Tuesday at its own office in the capital’s Banani, said a press release.
Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury of World University of Bangladesh and Prof Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), were elected Vice-Chairmen.
Ishtiaque Abedin of American International University-Bangladesh was elected as Joint Secretary General while KBM Main Uddin Chishty of Victoria University of Bangladesh was elected as treasurer.
Other elected members of the Executive Committee are - AKM Enamul Haque Shameem of Port City International University, Nazrul Islam Babu of Sonagraon University, Kazi Rafiqul Alam of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Sadaf Saaz Siddiqi of BRAC University, AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul of EXIM Bank Agricultural University, Shafiqul Islam Mohiuddin of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, Chowdhury Nafeez Sharafat of the Canadian University of Bangladesh; Md Sabur Khan of Daffodil International University, Riyadh Ahmed of Iskakha International University, Abdul Hay Sarker of Independent University, Abu Yusuf Md Abdullah of Northern University, Md Rezaul Karim of south-east university, and Qayum Reza Chowdhury of the University of Asia Pacific.
A four-member election commission led by former BUBT Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Abu Saleh conducted the election.
