Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok celebrates Victory Day

Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok celebrated the Victory Day with due pomp and fervor on Saturday. Ambassador Mohammed Abdul Hye formally hoisted the national flag at the beginning of the embassy event.

After that, 1-minute silence was observed to pay respect to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyred members of his family and martyred freedom fighters.

Then the Ambassador Mohammed Abdul Hye placed a wreath on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, read a press release.

On the occasion of the day, messages given by the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were read respectively by the Minister & DCM Maleka Parveen, NDC; Minister (Consular) Hasnat Ahmed; Counselor (Economic) and Alternative Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNESCAP  Saroar Ahmed Saleheen and Counsellor (Political) and Deputy Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNESCAP  Nirjhar Adhikary. All the officials and employees of the embassy, local Awami League and dignitaries of the expatriate Bangladeshi community were present in the event.

Besides, President of Bangladesh Association of Asian Institute of Technology Mohammad Al-Amin Sardar, Acting President of Thailand Awami League Mostafizur Rahman and General Secretary Niamat Ali Talukder participated in the discussion on behalf of Bangladesh community.

Later, a cultural programme was organised on the occasion of Victory Day 2023 at the embassy premises. Expatriate Bangladeshis participated in the said cultural event. Besides, the embassy organised a painting competition for expatriate Bengali children and teenagers. Expatriate Bangladeshi children and teenagers staying in Thailand participated in it. Afterwards, all the contestants were felicitated and prizes were awarded to the first, second and third-place winners.

The programme of the Great Victory Day was conducted by the Counsellor and head of Chancery of the embassy Md Masumur Rahaman.

It should be noted that on the occasion of Victory Day last December 14, 2023, the embassy organised a voluntary blood donation program at the Red Cross Society in Bangkok.

Besides, on the occasion of Victory Day, T-10 cricket competition organised by Bangladesh Community in Thailand Cricket Club was held at Horse Shoe Point, Pattaya, Chonburi Province, Thailand on December 10, 2023 with the assistance of the Embassy.
