Banglalink, NESCO to build smart meter infrastructure

The country’s leading digital operator Banglalink has partnered with Northern Electricity Supply Company PLC (NESCO) – a state-owned power distribution company that operates in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions – to provide fastest 4G connectivity and a wide range of digital solutions.

The partnership focuses on accelerating the installation of smart pre-payment meters throughout the northern part of Bangladesh (NESCO covered area), utilising Banglalink’s fastest 4G network, which has been certified by the Ookla Speedtest Award for four consecutive years.

This initiative supports the government’s Smart Bangladesh vision by digitising electricity services.

Banglalink Enterprise Business Director Rubaiyat A Tanzeen and NESCO DGM (ICT Operation and Automation) Md Shamim-Al-Mamun signed the formal agreement during a ceremony at the company’s Rajshahi office, read a press release issued Tuesday.

Tanzeen said at the event, “The purpose of Banglalink is to provide seamless convenience through advanced digital experiences. As a leading digital operator with a recently doubled network reach, we look forward to providing the fastest 4G connectivity for efficient electricity distribution services across Bangladesh.

“This partnership is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive digital solutions ecosystem, delivering a comprehensive digital solutions ecosystem.”

DGM Mamun said, “We are delighted to work with Banglalink, renowned for its fastest 4G connectivity and diverse digital offerings. This collaboration with Banglalink simplifies our smart pre-payment metering project by leveraging their fastest 4G network for greater efficiency.”

Head of Strategic Business, Enterprise Business of Banglalink SM Shamsur Rahman, Manager of (DC, DR and Infrastructure), DGM Office (ICT Operation & Automation) at NESCO Abu Sayem Mohammad Sadad, and other officials from both organisations were present at the ceremony.
