Banglalink continues to drive its growth in both revenue and subscriber numbers during the first quarter (Q1) of this year.
Total revenue in Q1 surged by six per cent Year on Year (YoY) to Tk 1,544 crore, as reported by Banglalink's parent company VEON, said a media statement of the operator on Sunday, reports BSS.
Banglalink attributed the overall subscriber growth, particularly in 4G subscribers, to this growth, which was fuelled by its superior network speed, expanding coverage, and innovative digital service.
Banglalink Chief Executive Officer Erik Aas said: "Banglalink's subscribers trust the country's fastest 4G network, as evidenced by the growth in our subscriber base and revenue."
According to the latest subscriber numbers released by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Banglalink's total subscriber count reached 44 million in March 2024, up from 41 million in 2023, marking a jump of more than three per cent.
Notably, Banglalink has seen the highest subscriber growth in the industry over the past year.
VEON's report revealed that Banglalink now boasts nearly 22 million 4G users, up from 17 million in 2023, reflecting a remarkable increase of more than 23 per cent.
Erik Aas credited this success to engaging customers every minute of the day and investing in expanding network coverage and capacity to ensure higher service quality in line with the Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041.
"Digital adoption is on the rise in Bangladesh, and we remain optimistic about further industry growth in the coming period," he added.
