Baraka Power Limited, a publicly traded power generation company, has won the Bronze Award under the Power Generation Category in the 'Best Corporate Award 2021' by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).

This is the sixth time that Baraka Power has got prestigious recognition from the ICMAB for good corporate governance, according to a press release.

The ICMAB introduced the award in 2007 to recognise the country's best corporate enterprises and encourage others to go for good corporate culture and management.

The award ceremony was held at the InterContinental Dhaka on Thursday when Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi graced the event as the chief guest, while Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam was present as the special guest.

Baraka Power Managing Director Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury received the award from the minister at the event.

Baraka Power Director (Finance) Md Monirul Islam, Chief Financial Officer Monowar Ahmed, General Manager (HR and Admin) Mirajul Karim, and Deputy General Manager (Corporate Affairs) Mohammad Rana were also present.

The company won this award for five years — 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019, read the release.

Baraka Power is the only private sector power generation company developed by a group of Non-Resident Bangladeshi (NRB) investors along with a group of dynamic and promising local entrepreneurs. It was incorporated as a private limited company in 2007.
