BFTUC congratulates Dr Yunus-led interim govt

Bangladesh Free Trade Union Congress (BFTUC) Secretary General Aminur Rashid Chowdhury Ripon has extended special congratulations to the Interim Government of Bangladesh headed by Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus, and other members of the Advisory Council.

He wished them all success in their endeavors, read a BFTUC press release issued Friday.

The BFTUC hopes that the government formed under the leadership of Dr Muhammad Yunus will effectively address the country’s current challenges, promptly complete necessary reforms of the state machinery, establish a modern democratic state with robust human rights protection, equality, and justice, and fulfill the aspirations of the people, thereby propelling the country towards prosperity.

It also expects that the Honorable Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus’ interim government will accord due respect and protection to the fundamental rights of workers, expeditiously amend labor laws in accordance with international standards, continue improving the working environment, foster effective industrial relations, and undertake necessary reforms to eradicate corruption within all departments and institutions under the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

The BFTUC anticipates that the government will fulfill all commitments in a timely manner as outlined in the road map submitted to the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the EU Action Plan.

It stands ready to provide full support to the newly formed Interim Government on behalf of the workers in this regard.
