With the slogan "We will protect the national wealth of rawhide," the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has launched several public awareness initiatives focused on proper skinning and preservation techniques for rawhide.

These efforts aim to ensure an uninterrupted and affordable supply of salt needed for preserving the hides of all animals sacrificed during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, according to a press release.

Following the decisions made at a meeting on June 9, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka and attended by various stakeholders, booths have been established in 17 animal markets in Dhaka city as well as in the animal markets of Dhamrai, Nawabganj, Dohar, Keraniganj, and Savar upazilas.

These booths are actively distributing leaflets and other informational materials.

Additionally, related TV commercials are being broadcast on BTV, Channel I, and other private television channels, as well as on the Facebook pages of the district and upazila administrations, and other departmental organisations.

In response to BSCIC Dhaka's proposal, the Dhaka district administration has also conducted five training courses for 350 principals of madrasahs and orphanages on proper skinning and salt preservation of rawhide.

Furthermore, control room services have been established to promptly address any issues related to rawhide management.
