The Business Post's Head of Bangla and Multimedia Afia Afrin Appy has received the international organisation WaterAid’s Young Media Fellowship 2022-23.

The fellowship certificate was handed over in a ceremony organised at the Royal Park Residence Hotel auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday.

General Secretary of the National Press Club and editor of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj Shyamal Dutta, WaterAid Bangladesh Country Director Hasin Jahan, and Bangla Tribune’s correspondent Udisa Islam were present as the mentors of the fellowship.

Others to receive this fellowship are Somoy TV’s Senior Reporter Rashed Bappy, Channel 24’s Senior Reporter Ashekin Prince, Prothom Alo’s Senior Reporter Mosabber Hossain, Daily Samakal’s Zahidur Rahman, The Business Standard’s Tawsia Tazmim, Bangla Tribune’s Mohiuddin Khan Rifat and Atiq Hasan Shuvo, and Bangladesh Today's Pinky Akhtar.

The fellowship supports media professionals to understand, investigate, and promote Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) rights and its applications under Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS).

Its main objective was to inform the community about climate change, water, sanitation and hygiene challenges and pressing issues at local and national levels and to exchange ideas and raise awareness in this regard.

The fellowship was launched with the aim to find young and energetic journalists who have the will to set themselves apart by demonstrating courage and commitment to the community.
