To protect investors, Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF) intends to offer insurance benefits to them through a partnership with Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC).
In line with this, a discussion session titled "CMSF-SBC Brainstorming Session on Investors' Protection Framework" was held recently at the management office of Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF) in view of Insurance Day on March 1, read a press release.
The discussion was chaired by CMSF Chairman Md Najibur Rahman, former chief secretary to the prime minister, while Syed Belal Hossain, managing director, SBC was present as the guest of honour. Dr Nahid Hossain, joint secretary, Financial Institutions Department (FID) was also present at the discussion.
Besides, CMSF's Board of Governors (BOG) members, committee chairman, and members including Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), and Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL) were also present and gave their valuable opinions.
CMSF Chairman Md Najibur Rahman said that work has started with the aim of providing insurance benefits for the protection of investors. “We are hopeful that we will be able to implement this before Insurance Day.”
SBC Managing Director Syed Belal Hossain gave a presentation on the occasion to provide insurance benefits, discussing the type of insurance, policy, and premium.
FID Joint Secretary Dr Nahid said that CMSF has done many creative works since its inception and one of the main functions of CMSF will be to provide insurance facilities to protect investors.
“After the introduction of the insurance facility, I can confidently say that it will have a positive impact on the capital market. In the discussion, all the parties in the capital market are positive about providing insurance benefits to the investors,” he added.
