Robi Axiata hosts Datathon 3.0 final round

Robi Axiata Limited has hosted the final round of Bangladesh’s largest data science competition, Datathon 3.0, at its corporate office in Dhaka. The final phase of the two-day competition started Friday and continued till Saturday.

Following the tremendous success of the past two Datathon events, Robi organised Datathon 3.0 for the third time in Bangladesh. Powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Ltd was the platinum sponsor of the event, according to a press release.  

ADA Bangladesh was the digital media partner; Axentec as the integration partner and Brainstation 23 has been the cloud expertise partner of the prestigious competition.

Being the pioneering and most extensive Datathon event in Bangladesh, Datathon 3.0 focuses on the transformative role of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning in addressing real-world business challenges.

The event attracted data enthusiasts, including data scientists, business analysts, statisticians, data engineers, and programmers, from renowned national and global institutions, diverse industries, and start-ups.

Over 3,500 individuals, organised into more than 1,000 teams, registered for the competition's third edition. The qualifier round, held from April 18 to April 22, narrowed down the participants who competed in the final round of the competition.

Datathon is a 48-hour marathon competition where participants showcase their problem-solving and machine-learning skills, assessed by both local and global data science experts.

This round marks a significant step in identifying future-ready data talents and fostering collaborative efforts between industry, academia, and government to drive the objective of building a Smart Bangladesh.

This is highly encouraging to see young talents showcasing their exceptional abilities and pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through the effective use of Data," said Rajeev Sethi, chief executive officer of Robi Axiata Limited.

Successful participants from this phase advanced to the Gala event where total prize money of Tk 10 lakhs will be distributed. Champion team will receive Tk 5 lakh worth of prizes, the first runners-up will get Tk 3 lakh, and the second runners-up will receive Tk 2 lakh worth of prizes.
