DPDC’s 'Bidyut Bandhu' secures 2nd place at innovation showcase

Dhaka Power Distribution Company's (DPDC) Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based smart customer assistant chatbot “Bidyut Bandhu” secured second place among all the organisations under the Power Division at its Innovation Showcase on Sunday.

Through “Bidyut Bandhu”, customers can easily avail of any electricity-related services and file complaints. DPDC customers can access this service in both Bangla and English from any computer or mobile using DPDC's website (www.dpdc.gov.bd), according to a press release.

As innovation is inevitable in providing government services to ensure the implementation of the Smart Bangladesh 2041 vision, a total of 24 innovation initiatives from the departments under the Power Division were showcased at the event. The objectives of the showcasing event are to ensure uninterrupted power supply, proper customer service, and find alternative and readily available power generation sources.

The event was organised under the supervision of Power Division Joint Secretary (renewable energy) and Chief Innovation Officer Nirod Chandra Mondal, while Power Division Senior Secretary Habibur Rahman presented the crests and certificates to the winners. General Manager (ICT) Rabiul Hasan received the crests and certificates on behalf of DPDC, the release added.

Habibur said, "To achieve the vision of Smart Bangladesh 2041, it is necessary to develop our own technology or create our own version of used technology."

Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Humayun Kabir and other officials of the Power Division and its organisations, were present at the event.
