Businessmen will take the lead in making Bangladesh a country of trillion dollar economy and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) is working for that, said the director candidate of the organisation in the next election and Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Plc Golam Murshed.
He came up with the remarks while talking to the reporters before attending a discussion meeting at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the port city of Chittagong on Monday night. The discussion was held ahead of the FBCCI election that is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on July 31 to form the top management for the 2023-25 term.
A panel of Babshayee Oikkya Parishad organised the event titled 'Significance of the Port City in the Journey of Trillion Dollar Economy', said a press statement.
At the programme, Golam Murshed said, “Our goal is to implement a trillion-dollar economy in Bangladesh. As per the announcement of the Prime Minister, our panel will work so that businessmen can lead in building Smart Bangladesh. That's why our panel has been composed of experts, veterans and newcomers. We will see a new trend in FBCCI if this panel is elected.”
"We have 23 people in the panel; all of them are working in different sectors. I work in the sector as MD of Walton. Others will deal with other sectors. A trillion-dollar economy won't be too hard to implement if we contribute in our sectors properly”, he said, responding to a query on how the panel will work to implement a trillion-dollar economy.
About the frequent price hike of daily essentials, Golam Murshed said “As I mentioned previously there are representatives of every business sector in our panel. Among them, there are traders from rice, lentils and daily essential sectors. We will all work together to control the spiralling prices of goods so that people don’t suffer. The FBCCI’s duty is to keep the country's economy stable and run the economy properly.”
He said, “All the new people in the panel are also committed. All have come here with the interest of working for the economic prosperity of the country. There are 4.5 crore businessmen in Bangladesh and we will work for everyone. Business and people are inextricably linked. No one should be left alone. When a business runs well, people also get the benefits and business will survive if people survive.”
