High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Bandar Seri Begawan Nahida Rahman Shumona has called upon the Bangladeshi expatriates in Brunei Darussalam to exercise dexterity and professional discipline while marking International Migrants Day at the mission premises.
Chairing the programme, she handed over the High Commissioner’s Award to twelve Bangladeshi workers in recognition of their craftworks and professional discipline in Brunei.
The High Commissioner's Award is the first-ever accolade introduced by the mission to inspire Bangladeshi workers to earn professional excellence and exhibit loyalty to work ethics.
“Those who have been awarded today [Sunday] with the High Commissioner's Award have to serve as role model migrants to fellow Bangladeshi workers in Brunei,” the envoy remarked in her speech.
The programme, attended by scores of Bangladeshi expatriates and employers, began with a recitation from the holy Quran, followed by a reading from the special messages sent by the president, the prime minister, and the expatriates' welfare ministers of Bangladesh.
Showing research interest in the struggle and indomitable spirit of the Bangladeshi expatriates in Brunei, a UTB faculty, Dr Zaity Abdul Hamid, initiated a research project on the lives of Bangladeshi expatriates in Brunei.
The program ended with the service of light refreshments and group photo sessions.
