'Food for Good' distributes 100k free meals in 1,000 days

Universal Amity's "Food for Good" project has reached the milestone of distributing one hundred thousand free meals in 1,000 days.

The voluntary organisation started implementing a food aid project called "Food for Good" from June 7, 2020. Through which hundreds of hungry, poor, and helpless people are given food in different areas of Dhaka.

They are successfully working with the aim of ensuring that no floating people in the capital Dhaka have to spend nights without having food, read a press release.

The project "Food for Good" initiative marked its 1,000th day on Sunday. Through this, the project touched the milestone of distributing 1 lakh meals for free.

While sharing the moment of joy, the Chairman of Universal Amity Md Mehdi Hasan said, "If the wealthy people of the society come forward, no one will be hungry anymore."

The organisation is flawlessly fulfilling its responsibilities with the financial help of the common people. Ignoring all the obstacles the volunteers are continuing their efforts to deliver food to hundreds of hungry people every day.

Delivering food to hungry people is the main driving force behind the motivation of the workers of this organization.

The Director of Finances of the organization Md Shafiqul Islam, said that their food list includes chicken, eggs, vegetables, and beef and the hungry people eat the food very happily with satisfaction.

A person named Anwar Hossain said that he takes food from there every night and is dependent on this food. Besides, Universal Amity has ten other running projects including — Income Aid, Aid for Life, Safe Shelter, Ramadan Gift, Lifeline, etc.

Universal Amity was established on January 1, 2015. During the eight-year-long journey, the organization has helped countless people across the country through various projects.

The organisation works to improve the quality of life of people as they reach the doorsteps of people with relief in all national calamities.

They are working in various ways for the neglected people across the vast area, from cities to villages. Universal Amity is always shadowed by the misery of the people from the remote areas of the country to the misery of the people of the coast.

To meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) given by the United Nations to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2030, on a small scale, Universal Amity is also working with poverty alleviation, hunger relief, good health, quality education, clean water, and sanitation system, creation of employment, building sustainable houses.

Volunteers of the Universal Amity said that it is possible to make Bangladesh a happy and prosperous country if all people come forward. So they are calling everyone to come forward.
