The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has awarded the Unique Hotel and Resorts Ltd and the Peoples’ Insurance Company Ltd for outstanding corporate governance practices, along with transparency and accountability in overall management.
According to a press release issued Saturday, the 9th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, 2021 was organised at a hotel in Dhaka.
The award’s theme this year was “Promoting Governing Excellence.” Prime Minister's Private Sector Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Special guests Planning Minister MA Mannan and Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, and Salman F Rahman presented trophies and certificates to 37 winning companies under 12 categories, who are listed with the DSE and CSE.
The Unique Hotel and Resorts Ltd received the silver award in the service category. PLC Shakawath Hossain, the CEO of Unique Hotel and Resorts received the award from Salman F Rahman.
Meanwhile, The Peoples’ Insurance Company Ltd was awarded silver in the general insurance category. Salman F Rahman handed the award to the CEO of Peoples’ Insurance Company Ltd SM Azizul Hossain.
Peoples' Insurance Company Ltd received the award jointly with Reliance Insurance Ltd.
ICSB President Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, Senior Vice President M Nurul Alam FCS, and Corporate Governance Excellence Award Committee Chairman Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan ACS, and senior officials of various organisations were present on the occasion.
Dignitaries, professionals from different sectors, chairmen, directors, managing directors and corporate executives of the nation’s top corporate houses, members of the institute, media and journalists attended the event.
The guests praised ICSB’s contribution to building governance and ensuring sustainable development in the business community of Bangladesh.
