Creating a new paradigm in textile sourcing by successfully integrating the textile value chain on a single, global, trading platform, the 14th Intex Bangladesh opened at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka on Thursday and will continue till Saturday.

Inaugurated by Md Nuruzzaman, director general, Department of Textiles, Government of Bangladesh, the three-day fair will connect buyers from Bangladesh, South Asia and countries from across the world to over 200 leading international manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from seven countries showcasing yarns, apparel fabrics, denim fabrics, clothing accessories and allied services, dyes and chemicals, according to a press release.

Intex Bangladesh 2024 brought the largest ever Indian contingent with over 100 companies from India under TEXPROCIL and PDEXCIL to form the “Made in India Textiles Pavilion”.

A dedicated China pavilion as well as exhibitors from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, UAE, Taiwan and more are participating this year. Intex Bangladesh serves as a strong platform for networking, knowledge exchange, collaboration, fostering new partnerships and driving growth in the textile industry.

Intex Bangladesh – through its international sourcing platform will fuel and help achieve Bangladesh’s drive to present more value-added products for global markets and achieve the $100 million target by 2030, added the release.

During the inauguration of Intex Bangladesh 2024, chief guest Md Nuruzzaman said, "Our government is taking multiple steps to propel readymade garment (RMG) sector. Increasing share in global market is one of our major targets. A platform like Intex Bangladesh will certainly help to bring together expertise, experiences, and the opportunity for exploring new business avenues."

Special guest Abdullah Hil Rakib, vice president of The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), said, “Product diversity is the key to expand our garments industry. To achieve the goal of reaching a $100 billion export market by 2030, regional cooperation is a prerequisite. BGMEA is ready to shape this industry and we require collaboration within our South Asian markets.”

K Sakthivel, vice-chairman, PDEXCIL, said, “The objectives of Intex Bangladesh are not limited to identify challenges but to address them, devise strategies to reach respective destinations and bring stakeholders under one roof to discuss necessary initiatives. We believe, Intex Bangladesh 2024 is our own platform where we will have opportunities to design a relevant road map.”

Manoj Patodia, immediate past president, TEXPROCIL, said "We are honoured to contribute in arranging a premier show like Intex Bangladesh 2024. We hope this expo will contribute in empowering RMG sector of Bangladesh. ”

For its 2024 edition in Bangladesh, the show has ramped up its offerings across all four Halls of ICCB Dhaka.

During the three-day event, Intex Bangladesh’s Interactive Business Forum (IBF) Seminar Series will deliver high quality market intelligence via panel discussions providing practical insight into the necessity, challenges and solutions to enable Bangladeshi industries to achieve the target of reaching $100 billion in exports by 2030 as well as the evolution of Bangladesh into becoming a role model for the green industry.

These discussions help the Bangladeshi industry better understand current global trends to become a more relevant manufacturing hub, the release further added.
